Over the last 10 months or so, donations and ad money have together helped me make MetaMechs better, and even possible in the first place (the original domain name and hosting fees were directly from a donation from the original content on MercStar). This isn’t me asking for more donations or anything; I don’t want anyone to feel like they owe me anything (cuz you don’t). I’m not even asking for you to disable adblock or anything if you use it; if the ads actually bother you then I encourage it (don’t want to hurt your experience). I just wanted to find a way to express in real terms just how much I appreciate everyone who has donated. So, here’s a few things these donations have paid (or helped pay) for:
- Domain and hosting costs
- Mech packs, heroes, etc. for new content
- Computer Replacement Parts: Graphics card (shout out to thelegaldept), motherboard (after mine fried), CPU cooler (old pump failed), keyboard (dat Romer-G), mouse (wireless master race)
Seriously, you guys are the bee’s goddamn knees. I don’t have a whole lot of disposable income to blow on this site or this game or anything, so it’s been kind of crazy for me to look back at this stuff and see just how well it has all been fitting together. Without the domain and hosting costs, MetaMechs would still be piggybacked on someone else’s site and wouldn’t be a fraction of what it is today. Without the money for mech packs and MC for heroes, I would have been seriously hampered in terms of creating new guides and placing new mechs. And without the money to replace computer parts…well, I wouldn’t have been able to play MWO or even write articles at all when they failed me (the core of my system is over 3 years old at this point).
I also need to give special thanks to tvsbrent, who made the plugin for displaying the smurfy builds on the page, Snafets for setting up a csv solution to organizing mech builds in the Meta Tier List and Build Database, and Khavi Vetali for setting up the Build Database. And of course, Odwalla for helping me set up the site in the first place.
