Tier 2: Dire Wolf DWF-Prime/A | Summoner SMN-Prime/B/D | Trebuchet Loup de Guerre | Atlas D-DC | Cataphract CTF-3D | Griffin Sparky | Nova NVA-Prime/B/S | Shadowhawk SHD-2D | Shadowhawk SHD-2K | Blackjack Arrow | Centurion CN9-A | Hunchback HBK-4P | Quickdraw QKD-4H | Quickdraw QKD-5K
Dire Wolf DWF-Prime/A: The Dire Wolf is out for C-Bills! We’ve already seen it appear in a number of competitive matches, and it has proven that it is amazing. Which really isn’t any sort of surprise at all. I included a build with 4 cERLL that I’ve been trying out lately as a comp option for maps like alpine where you don’t need or even want the backup medium lasers that you usually see in laser vomit whales as the long range option, but the traditional laser voms work as well. At the top of medium range, you will see the Laser vom whale we should all be familiar with, but I couldn’t in good conscious put a whale build at the top of short range. It simply can’t close fast on a medium- or long-range enemy to be able to brawl in the first place, so while the build included is brutal (and the medium range options, including UAC5 stacking, are still monstrous at short range), the 9S and Griffin remain the rightful kings of short range.
Victor Dragon Slayer: I had to do it. The DS has been demoted from all of its Tier 1 positions. Compared to the other option
s available at its optimal range in competitive (Dire Wolf) and its class in PUGs (still Dire Wolf), it is really underwhelming and can’t carry nearly hard enough to make the cut.
Cataphract CTF-3D: It’s just not as good as the Summoner. That’s pretty much it, had to go down to Tier 2.
Banshee BNC-3E: This might deserve to be even higher in the Medium Range rankings, but the main problem I see with it is that it functions in a very similar role to the Dire Wolf, with the drawback of not being a Dire Wolf. So I decided to keep it behind the Dragon Slayer and CTF-3D for the time being, since those at least have separate playstyles associated with them.
Shadowhawk SHD-2D/2D2 & 5M: I’ve moved both of these mechs down to Tier 3 due to them being so obsoleted with the arrival of Clan mechs, in addition to the PPC nerf and the changing meta.
