MetaLingual

Hey guys!

So after a recommendation by pilot Igor Kozyrev, I’ve set up two translation plugins to make this site more accessible by people who don’t speak English as their main language. I have a two-stage plan set up; for now there is a google translate plugin accessible at the bottom right of the site that you can use to translate to a few different languages (I picked the ones that were most used by browsers visiting MetaMechs according to Google Analytics), but that’s just a stopgap measure because those translations can frequently be shit.

So the second bit is developing a crowd-sourced translation with the Transposh plugin, which you can access via widget at the bottom of the right sidebar. Right now, all you need to do is register for an account at MetaMechs and you’ll be able to check a box saying “edit translation” and you’ll be able to translate any page phrase by phrase. It’s currently set to allow any registered account edit, so if you see some trolling let me know and I’ll fix it and lock down privileges.  Currently, the only two options for languages to do custom translations for are Russian and German, which are far and away the largest two non-English language browsers that access MetaMechs. If you’re interested in translating for another language, or really if you have any other ideas, let me know at [email protected] and I’ll set that up for you. But yeah, if you do feel up to helping out with translation, It’d make me pleased as punch.

There’s a good chance I forgot something, but yeah. Thanks!
